Dow Corning, among the global leaders in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, is offering an exclusive look at Dow Corning CI-2001 White Reflective Coating for LED lighting applications at Light+Building 2014 (Booth A51, Hall 4.0). In the final stages of development, this highly reflective white silicone coating is designed to spray easily onto almost any surface to form a tough layer with internal high reflectivity. The technology targets greater design flexibility vs. competitive materials allowing more sophisticated shapes and materials to be used in advanced LED modules and reflectors.

"Improving processing, perforamance and reliability are critical to maximizing the competitiveness and widespread adoption of LED lighting," said Hugo da Silva, global industry director for LED Lighting at Dow Corning. "The development of CI-2001 Coating reinforces Dow Corning's commitment to broaden our portfolio of white reflective solutions for secondary optics applications. This cutting-edge innovation expands on our launch of Dow Corning MS-2002 White Reflective Moldable Silicone late last year, by promising a new coating option with a versatile combination of processability, structural strength, and high reflectivity for more efficient, reliable and ultimately more competitive LED lamp and luminaire designs."

Like other industry-leading products in Dow Corning's family of high-end optical silicones, Dow Corning® CI-2001 Coating is formulated to deliver outstanding mechanical, thermal and optical stability at elevated temperatures, where conventional organic materials, such as epoxies and plastics, often yellow and turn brittle. This allows lamp and luminaire components fabricated or coated with the material to maintain high reflectivity as well as consistent color and structural performance over the lifetime of an LED luminaire.
