LED display leader Lighthouse and TS Sports are in their second season at Southern Illinois University’s SIU Arena with an eye-popping, four-sided, center-hung LED display system, game in progress boards, a dazzling faade ring and scorer’s table video display.
SIU Arena, the basketball home of the Southern Illinois Salukis since 1964, was renovated in 2011 with a new lobby and entrance, a new upper seating bowl, Saluki team store, VIP club room and new ticket office.
“Southern Illinois felt that upgrading SIU Arena was critical to their continuing competitiveness,” said Ed Whitaker, Lighthouse NASA Director of Sales. “Adding vivid Lighthouse video establishes an exciting, electric atmosphere in the arena, and I think it jumps them past ‘competitive’ to superior.”
In addition, the four stunning Lighthouse center screens—each measuring more than 115 square feet—provide in-game replays and highlights, Missouri Valley Conference highlights, Saluki sports features, colorful animations and sponsorship messages. Each LED video display features a dedicated game-in-progress module, so Saluki fans throughout the arena can keep track of every aspect of the game.
“Partnering with Southern Illinois University has been exciting,” said Matt Ritter, TS Sports VP of Sales. “SIU Arena is a Missouri Valley Conference basketball tradition, and to add brilliant Lighthouse LED video displays to a tradition is an honor.”
In addition to the center-hung LED display, the newly-retrofitted SIU Arena features a curved faade ring at a 16mm pitch and nearly forty linear feet of video on the scorer’s table.
“Not only do the Lighthouse LED displays give SIU an edge when recruits see the arena atmosphere,” added Whitaker, “they give the university an edge with advertising sales and the all-important fan experience.”
